Hi,
I have encountered some problems with my home server yesterday: I found out
that I have been booted out of X. When I try to do a startx I get the
following:
Authentication failed - cannot start X server.
Perhaps you do not have console ownership?
I then did a reboot, and part of the startup message shows:
/var/run/subsys/blah..blah : No space left of device.
Upon bootup I checked /var filesystem and it still has about 37 Mb
There are also numerous entries in my syslog showing:
process-id file /var/run/xdm.pid: cannot be opened
kdm: Can create/lock fid file /var/run/xdm.pid
I also get occasional messages:
INIT: ld "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
I think this is related to my /etc/inittab file setting of the default init
level of 5.
Now, no user can do a startx, except root.
Help. I can still access the system remotely, but I don't intend to run X as
root until I can resolve this.
TIA

Cheers,
Ronald
