eerrhhmmmm... I guess you should first create a file system
/ext2/reserfs/swap/ in your intended Linux partition ...?

sorry, I have no experience with NT-Linux just Win98-Linux
my set up is like this .....

|-- primary --|---------------- extended --------|
|   "C"       |   "D"   |    "E"    |    "F"     |
              |<------ logical drives ---------->|
|   hdaX      |   hdaX  |    hdaY   |    hdaY    |
                                    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
|<------- windows ----------------->|<-- Linux ->|
|<------- fat32-------------------->|<---------->|
                                           A
      /ext2/reserfs/swap/------------------|

where:    1 <= X <= 4    [i guess...]
where:    5 <= Y         [i guess...]

from my experience RH6.2 requires that the
"/" or "/boot" be in hdaX

while LM7.1 & LM7.2 should be ok with both hdaX & hdaY

HTH ...
