Hi Ian,

#Nothing really, i just upgraded two boxes recently.
#

So upgrade works fine..?! I stopped using upgrade functionality of Linux
distribution installers after I hit a nasty snag eons ago with RH 5.2
(?).

#The only beef i have with 8 is that [on an install, not an upgrade] its
#default package selection sucks for develpment use. You gotta manually
#select a lot of devel packages for your box to compile SRPMs decently.
#MDK 7.2 before had 'development' option which installed almost everything
#needed for a general purpose machine.
#

I appreciate the heads-up.

#o Also, supermount support seems to be a lot flaky in kernel 2.4. IN the
#later 2.4.6-mdk kernels it doesn't even exist anymore.
#

Err. Damn. I rely heavily on supermount. Any workarounds on this? I
guess automount is an option.. but there is a number of annoying automount
non-features I do not like -- update of floppies, non-eject until
unmounted.. etc.

I'll take note of the issues I hit upon so others who are procrastinating
on upgrading will have something to chew with ;)

stay cool.
