Hi Orly,
Your post made me curious about the beasts running in the laptop
(Mandrake/GNOME/Ximian)
1. ymessenger: darn, I just found out that it eats up 58MB. What could
Yahoo! Messenger be doing with that much memory. Doesn't appear to be due
to memory leak since it's constant.
2. X Server: 23MB (no surprise there)
3. nautilus, and nautilus news, history, notes, and throbb: 13+5+5+5+5=
33MB yikes! (I believe most of it is because all the desktops have
overlaid Nautilus window. Not to mention screen buffers, and other
objects. Then again, I'm just guessing.)
4. xfs: 7MB (I have 100+ or some TTF font family loaded. It's weird that
your xfs is gobbling the much memory)
5. java: 90MB (no surprise.. this is for my Weblogic instance -- for
development)
'Need to look for a Yahoo Messenger alternative I can use.
stay cool.
