#_ IMHO there are two possible reasons:
#_ 1. They DO know it is wrong, but are rationalizing, much like
#_ terrorists do, rationalizing their actions, believing they are right
#_ to the point of death but nevertheless, hiding behind a cloak of
#_ secrecy.
#_ 2. The psuedonym is part and parcel of the game, (if that is, they
#_ consider this all an elaborate game). The earliest hackers at MIT
#_ used nicks, but I suppose that was because they were the kids who
#_ idolized comic characters and later got hooked on to D&D and XYZZY.
#_ This practice of using nicks to uniquely identify oneself took on a
#_ whole new meaning during the virus-creation years (early 80's to
#_ 90's).

Just curious, did Mitnick ever use a nickname or alias? How about that
other fellow, Shinimura (is the name correct)?
