of course, now i know how to use selective sorting in mutt. therefore,
only my plug and ph-linux-newbie mail is sorted by thread. the rest are
sorted by reverse-date. hehehe.

kung web systems sacha. i suggest using squid+ldap authentication instead.
this way we can use the existing student LDAP database which is currently
used for email. in the case of the ateneo, LDAP is the way to go since
we already have and maintain a LDAP user database.

...or...

not even squid+ldap because then we force all the users to authenticate.
we can even use LDAP authentication with PHP. you have to do some reading
about it. but remember, the Ateneo LDAP student directory is available
and fully functional. of course, you already know about this.

not really, the idea of central authentication has been around since they
age of multics and mainframes. this is an old idea. M$ is just popularizing
it now since they never really thought of it before since they were a
desktop (toy) operating system (and probably still is). NIS has been
in existence since the ancient unix days.
