Linux 3Ware Support, (cc Philippine Linux Users' Group) I just noticed this problem now. I'm using a 3Ware Escalade 3w-6400 controller. I recently upgraded to Linux kernel 2.4.16-xfs from 2.4.14-xfs and noticed that the 3dmd software cannot find the controller. When starting up the daemon I get the following:
Starting 3ware DiskSwitch daemon: ioctl(4) failed: No such file or directory ioctl(7) failed: No such file or directory And in my syslog: 3dmd: The application could not initialize the server socket. (e005) However the kernel does see my controller (of course, or else I would have really panicked, because otherwise things are running smoothly). From dmesg: 3ware Storage Controller device driver for Linux v1.02.00.010. PCI: Found IRQ 10 for device 00:0b.0 scsi0 : Found a 3ware Storage Controller at 0x8800, IRQ: 10, P-chip: 5.7 scsi0 : 3ware Storage Controller Vendor: 3ware Model: 3w-xxxx Rev: 1.0 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 00 Attached scsi disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 SCSI device sda: 180103297 512-byte hdwr sectors (92213 MB) I'm using 3dmd-1.10.00.020. On the web it reports that it cannot find any 3ware controller. The configuration file I used to build 2.4.16-xfs is identical to the one I used for 2.4.14-xfs, so nothing new there. I'd love to reboot and try life with 2.4.14-xfs but I can't right now because this is our server and it's busy. Hmm? Help! Thanks in advance. --> Jijo -- Federico Sevilla III :: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Network Administrator :: The Leather Collection, Inc.
