For those who have used the following: dpkg/apt-get/etc..., FreeBSD ports system, rpm and friends, how do they compare?
A couple of specific questions would be: 1. dpkg looks mighty similar to rpm in terms of functionality, is one clearly superior to another or is it more of just reinventing the wheel? 2. apt-get sounds similar to FreeBSD's ports system. How does it compare in terms of ease of use and features (for getting both precompiled and source packages)? _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
