Ahh. The ITU/FCC regulation on unlicensed 2.4GHz ISM band
requires/mandates that the ERP (effective radiated power) does not exceed
27dBm.

The Linksys WAP-11 and similar devices with the Intersel Prism2 chipset
(including the Cisco 340/350) max out at 20dBm (100mW) power output. So,
you cannot attach an antenna with a gain greater than 7dBi in countries
which follow the ITU/FCC regime.

HOWEVER: NTC in their crappy wisdom has decreed that 2.4GHz is REGULATED
in this country. So: in Meralco franchise area you cannot use it AT ALL.
But outside the Meralco area, apply for a license as normal (it's about
PHP 20K/year for a single point-to-point link). AND, because you have a
license, you can flout the ERP limit.

Back to back Cisco 340's (at 100mW), with back to back Cisco 18dBi solid
parabolics, can do 37km air distance at 1Mbps (this is the experience of
people we talked to in Iloilo). No boosters.

If you want >50km gain, buy a line booster to boost output to 1W RF
(instead of just 100mW). The Hyperlink Tech poletop line booster with AGC,
integral lightning protection goes for about $600.
