http://www.kernel.org/prepatch.html defines it as "Prepatches are the equivalent to alpha releases for Linux...".
www.kernel.org lists 2.5.8-pre3 and 2.5.34 as the latest prepatch and beta versions of the kernel. What is throwing me off is why is the prepatch for 2.5 listed at 2.5.8? Does this mean that if they are proven ok for users of 2.5.8 it will be forward ported to 2.5.34? But why are these patches being tested under 2.5.8 instead of the latest beta? _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
