How badly damaged is it? Please try to define crashed. Any physical damage? And how old is the drive?
Dexter
The BIOS reports a read error on its first attempt to read the drive, prior to loading anything. I've used a diagnostic utility from the Maxtor website, and it reports the drive as having failed testing. So it must be a drive problem, and not a file system or OS problem.
The drive hasn't been dropped or anything. It just stopped being readable while under normal use. It's less than 2 years old, and was used on a home desktop PC.
I've read about data recovery companies in the US, but I haven't heard of any in the Philippines.
