ok i apologize for being dragged into this, I shouldnt have posted at
all. But Here's what heppend on my side of the thread:

somebody: telnet doesnt work, some problems, blahblah...
me: i use telnet on local network only; her'es some info on
setting up xinetd for allowing only local network telnet.
list: dont run telnetd.
me: but I only use it for local home network..blah blah..
list: dont run telnetd. in fact dont run xinetd (huh??)
me: i run xinetd, heres why..blah blah...
list: you dont get it, hire a consultant.

I admit I got pissed off by being told to remove
my telnetd, and shutdown my xinetd, and in general
people implying I am stupid to allow telnet--but who woudnt???
My mistake was trying to post how to configure telnet on
local network only, but I see I should not have posted here at all.

I promise to leave this thread alone, IS THAT OK???
