Good morning , anyone here can guide me rebuilding my kernel.? I just want to adjust this parameter CONFIG_NR_CPU = 4 to make it 8
my kernel is 2.4.23 build from a vanilla kernel(kernel-2.4.23.tar.bz2) that my friend downloaded form kernel.org Can rebuilding really make the issue of hyper threading in SMP kernel be solve. because this kernel can only read 2 processor of my dual XEON server. I supposed to read 4 . My basic install kernel from the CD could read the CPU as 4. So i believe i dont have a hardware / setup problem. btw , when i run uname -r with this kernel it shows 2.4.23 with the smp at the end. Is it possible that the kernel is not enable for SMP.? I had tried also editing my lilo.conf by adding acmpismp=force , it work after rebooting but when i tried to reboot it again, it doesnt work n.. thanks . i would highly appreciate your quickest response guruz...thnx .. ------------------------------------ Elmer A.
