Thanks eric Just fine, how is PLUG doing? PLUG (manila) is better than the LUGs here in US maybe just in my area. It's more organized there.. .well it's a little bit better for Linux advocacy programs than here.
So I'm joining the mailing lists again to refresh some linux vocabulary. I back in wireless development here for Linux based 'captive portal' it's fun here doing the 802.1x as in FREE FREQUENCY.. Everybody can put up their own AP as long as you follow FCC Rules limitation on EIRP and part 15 :) unlike in manila you have to pay 500 pesos I think.... is that the 2.4 GHz policy now there and you have to register your APs in NTC.. that sucks. Maybe PLUG members be interested in Linux wifi NOTE: just don't exceed 30dbm of signal testing near the antenna. EMI does affect people's health. Wifi signal is much lower than signals coming from Cell Sites (Mobile phones carrier) which is very hazardous. I don't think NTC checks it. To all: LINUX + WIFI = FUN Maybe ECE like me in field of IT can use their knowledge in WIFI application (communications engineering) I do remember doing this stuff in ASTI (UP) setting up DOST antenna before using the 19.6 kbps (GPRS-) links form DOST agencies One thing, there are ISPs offering wireless (line-of-sight) Most of the p-t-p are 2.4 Ghz and 5.8Ghz equipments, are those licensed there? I mean does NTC know it? Oh I miss manila: street food :) OT : my wife is asking about the street food (Filipino) called quekquek. She read it in a mailing list but can't explain it to her. Is this the balot' with the orange being fried. Maybe someone can tell me about it. so that I'll be proud by knowing it first :) ---ran -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of neuroticimbecile Sent: Sunday, April 04, 2004 11:37 AM To: Philippine Linux Users Group Mailing List Subject: Re: [plug] lists.q-linux.com Hi Sir Randy, Long time, how is your stint in the US? Relax, it's not your browser, neither is it your email client, it may be your PC's system time. The "timetravellers" in the archives are caused by PCs with incorrect system dates posting to the list. Please check your PC's clock. HTH, -eric > Are you a Linux newbie?
