I use Slackware on all of my Linux servers, mainly because like you, its my distro of choice and its the distro that I am very much comfortable with. I don't know if there is a statistics about which distro sysadmins
prefer and use, but on the other Local Linux mailing list that I am in, most of the guys uses Slackware or Debian.

Ah... it's very good to know there won't be a shortage of Slackware
people to source for.

I can even refer someone if you like :). I know a very good sysadmin which is a Slackware user and perl,PHP,SQL guru as well.

I am such a faithful of the Slackware philosophy that I can't even see the point of using slapt-get and other add-on package management utilities. I fiddle around with a lot of different software under Slack, but up to now I still haven't found any good reason to use anything other than the default pkgtools. I get the most peace of mind building my own packages (as easy as 1-2-3 99% of the time if you've read a guide) with the default tarball from the original source, for any package Patrick Volkerding doesn't provide. It also makes the process of fiddling around with source code as effortless as it can get.

We share the same philosophy, and the addition of the checkinstall program makes creating a slackware package even easier, however it seems that the only people who appreciates the simplicity of Slackware's package management are...the Slackware users themselves :-).

This is Penguinista, right? Do they have a mailing list you can subscribe
to or is it pure Yahoo Groups? Not too fond of the web email interface....

Yes, the other Linux mailing list is penguinista. afaik, its pure yahoogroups.
