How large can Linux support ? Can i create a partition as large as 2 to 3 terabyte on my redhat AS 3
Can LVM help me with this.... I am thinking like chunking the terabytes into smaller pieces then do a LVM.
RHAS 3 only have LVM version 1 which you can only create up to a maximum of 255.99 GB per logical volume. that limit made me split a 4 TB (RAID 5) storage into much smaller sizes. LVM version 2 has no limit but goodluck on patching since most patches work on vanilla / linus kernel and even if you can make it work on RHAS/EL kernel, Redhat wont support it. better install it on whiteboxlinux instead. =) expect some Ext3, VFSlock & HIGHMEM - related problems.
i recently got mine partially working but i still have to test it's stability.
reading the mails on kerneltrap.org and reading the changelog of
"aa" (forgot the full name) branch of kernel patches helped me a lot.
