I am using Gaim 1.1.1 on Debian GNU/Linux Sid and have a "roving" setup on my laptop so I connect to various proxies depending on where I am all through local port 3128, which is actually port forwarded to the correct host using SSH. Gaim works perfectly through this proxy for Yahoo! Mesenger, MSN Messenger and ICQ.
