Isn't the DWL-G520 using the Atheros chipset? If so, you'd want the
Madwifi drivers (madwifi.sf.net).

They're quite very powerful cards, supports a couple of standards
(802.11i, WEP, WPA-PSK, etc..), transmit power is very good, and
theoretically can tune to any frequency.

I checked out a Linksys WRT54G broadband router the other day. It's
good enough for indoor usage (although it's a bit disappointing when
placed outdoors... ). The nice thing about the WRT54G, WRT54GS (and
the WAP54G AP) is that they run Linux (MIPS port) inside - and are
really hackable.
