Oh! I thought that AMD64 distributions recompiled everything for 64-bit operation. But then again, how much code makes use of 'long long' anyway? Is this a valid conclusion: Today, AMD64 only makes sense on servers (like Opterons) where the on-die memory controller will make a difference.
