Your Inbox folder and all subfolders have cur.  It's where you can find all the mails in that particular folder/subfolder.  The two others (tmp and new(?)) are for processing by the local mail processor (e.g.postfix).

All incoming mails, once processed, goes to your Inbox/cur folder.  Depending on what filters/scripts are running on your mail reader/client, or even the mail server, mails may be moved to other folders.

Hello All,

Thanks for the replies. Actually i am curious as to
how one can determine to which mail folder/subfolder
a particular message belongs to. e.g. If your mailbox
structure is:

Inbox
|-personal
|--work
|---spam

How would you know which messages under /cur
belongs to which subfolders?
