Hi ,

My problem is that when i ran a tar on my mounted volumes on a redaht AS 2.1 it
gets disconnectec from the SAN. And has some errors like these after a few
hours...

Feb  4 20:13:16 RAC2 kernel:  I/O error: dev 08:11, sector 51
Feb  4 20:13:16 RAC2 kernel: SCSI disk error : host 3 channel 0 id 0 lun 1
return code = 10000
Feb  4 20:13:16 RAC2 kernel:  I/O error: dev 08:21, sector 52
Feb  4 20:13:16 RAC2 kernel: SCSI disk error : host 3 channel 0 id 0 lun 0
return code = 10000
Feb  4 20:13:16 RAC2 kernel:  I/O error: dev 08:11, sector 52
Feb  4 20:13:16 RAC2 kernel: SCSI disk error : host 3 channel 0 id 0 lun 1
return code = 10000
Feb  4 20:13:16 RAC2 kernel:  I/O error: dev 08:21, sector 53
Feb  4 20:13:16 RAC2 kernel: SCSI disk error : host 3 channel 0 id 0 lun 0

here is my setup:

2 Node oracle RAC 9i Cluster with ocfs
Redhat AS 2.1 with 2.4.9-e.27smp kernel
150 Gb of DAta on a SAN mounted to both server as /dev/sdc to a mountpoint.

It doesnt seem to be an Oracle issue , but considering it . I ran the tar
script with the oracle down.and just mapping the datas on the SAN.

Server just get disconnected from the SAN and cannot accesss the data in it so
i just have to reboot it.

Is there any other way i can optimize the memory handling or control the large
support for the tar. I dont really doubt the memory its a 4GB RAM and a Dual
Xeon 2.4 physicall CPU.

Can anyone just help or just in case some references on how to troubleshoot
this kind problem..

thank you in advance..
