First off a few comments on posting-style: avoid top-posting, when
capable. Second, strip away unneeded quoting, especially those that
doesn't concern your subject. I know you're using a webmailer, but I
think you can spare time to drag-select and delete away unnecessary
parts, especially from the digest. :)

Answering your question, I think Ubuntu rocks for the human beings who
are not too clueless about computers but are not too clueful on *nix and
FOSS. It's a great starting point for those motivated enough to try
GNU+Linux out.

But it certainly does leave the experienced GNU+Linux user wanting for
more, and I'm keen to think that you are one of them. Not to worry: a
simple appending of an apt source to /etc/apt/sources.list and dselect
update and install works wonders.

One outstanding feature that I like, though, is the accessibility
features and i18n.
