I'm running it on an HP G62 435DX and clearly this doesn't have the best builtin video for Linux.

In fact, to boot into Gnome 3 I have to disable kernel mode setting for the Radeon card. Effectively, I'm
running without video acceleration.

Any insights on why I can't walk away from firefox and expect it to be useable later are going to be very much appreciated. I will point out that I'm waiting for a new battery for this laptop which I currently have to run plugged in.

I prefer to use Linux on this laptop designed for Windows 7 for two reasons. Reason one is that there isn't an open source Windows 7 equivalent that is free and stable. Reason two is that I need to use dd to image compact flash cards.

I would like to if I could afford one order a Linux laptop with CentOS 7 on it that is properly integrated and completely Linux compatible.

This laptop is work. So far, I need to do dd and web searches as well as check email.
