Are there ways I can run tests here to ensure it all works properly?

I logged into my zoom account on their web site and learned that I had a
private meeting number and password. That was unexpected. So, ...

I opened zoom-linux on an empty virtual workspace on the xfce panel and
logged into that meeting (took a bit to figure out which string was the
password in the whole URL) and there I was. Video works. There's a link to
test audio so I went there.

The mic worked; the VU bar bounced around when I spoke. But, as someone here
wrote, the output test was inconclusive.

Of the two output devices offered I chose the one pavucontrol shows:
HD-Audio Generic Analog Stereo, and clicked the 'play sound' button. The VU
meter bar bounced around but I did not hear it. As that headphone profile
does play sound generated locally via an Audacious .mp3 I assume it works on
Zoom, too, but their sound sample didn't. Reasonable assumption?

On the other issue (and one of the whiteboard software sub-threads) of using
Zoom's screen share I learned that, at least for .png files displayed using
ImageMagick, Zoom doesn't recognize it, probably because there is no window
manager frame around it. I didn't try a PDF file for the same reason.

Unless there's a way to have Zoom display these files in an ongoing meeting
I'll print them, mount them on a firm backing, and just hold them up in
front of the webcam when I want the audience to see them. Sigh. At least now
I know.

Any and all comments on the lack of audio output and sharing screens other
than that of zoom-linux are more than welcome.

Regards,

Rich
