if you just want an old-fashioned basic interpreter for linux, there
is bwbasic. I just tried it out:

bwBASIC: list
      5: n=0
     10: print "hello,world"
     13: n=n+1
     15: if n < 5 then goto 10
bwBASIC: run
hello,world
hello,world
hello,world
hello,world
hello,world
