[PLUG] Issue with HP MFP M148dw

I have an issue with my HP printer. Xsane will start, but fails when I 
try to Acquire preview. I get the error message

Failed to start scanner: Invalid argument.
It's not at all clear to me what argument is invalid. Is there some way 
to find this out?
