In order to get this to work I think you'll have to hook up a second alternator and then rewire it to be a DC generator. Alternators by their very nature cap off the amount of voltage they produce (no mater how fast you turn an alternator it will always produce 14V) Alternators are extremely inefficient. A DC generator on the other had is more efficient and would give you more volts when the engine turned faster which means more hydrogen. It also means you can generate enough volts to arc weld parts of your car together if you're not careful. (I had a science teacher in college talk about creating an arc welder in just this fashion).
So if you have an old pickup with enough room around the engine to add in a second alternator/generator you could be in business. Modern cars cram the engine in so tight there isn't room enough to change the oil.
