That's exactly the type of role I'd expect it would be deployed in. Something backups related for now (isn't that where all newer filesystems start?). This options seems like the only viable contender to ZFS for Linux. We've actually been deploying some Solaris boxes just to get ZFS functionality, it is very compelling. It may be some time before we have the desire to switch to btrfs, but we are hoping things go well.
