Speaking of wireless... tri-band (N, ac, and WiGig) chipsets are
already coming out, and the 60Ghz WiGig stuff is really sweet. The
trick is, it's a *highly* directional signal that won't go through
obstacles. It uses tiny antenna arrays and beam-forming to make
links, but this means that multiple endpoints can communicate with an
AP with essentially no interference with one another. A wired
backbone with per-room WiGig links will be a really sweet connectivity
solution when it's widely available and prices have dropped
sufficiently.
