I'm seeking recommendations for third-party monitoring services. Experience
has taught me that FOSS apps like Zabbix and Nagios are great for 'tier 1'
monitoring. However, even these are not 100% reliable. A third-party IT
service monitor adds another layer of protection. There are a number of very
popular ones:

- Gomez (now Compuware APM)
- Web Site Pulse
- Keynote

These are great services that are commonly used by some of the largest
organizations in the world. However, they are not cheap due to the depth and
breadth of features they provide. I'm looking for something more basic. 30-50
services, 2-3 geo locations, and simple e-mail notifications. Does anyone use
& enjoy a "good value" third-party monitoring service?

Frankly, some of these services seem like a blatant rip off. One I saw charged
$120/year to monitor 6 services every 5 minutes from 4 monitoring locations.
Makes me wish I didn't give up that monitoring business I started 12 years
ago.
