You are indeed a rare person! If it weren't for the comments I wouldn't find any value whatsoever in slashdot. In truth if you read at a level 2 or higher, the comments are quite interesting, relevant, and educational. That's a reason I signed up years ago. Comments do suffer from groupthink (which depends on which faction got in first). Slashdot has been a fairly good example of community discussion done right, and maintained a fairly high quality of comments, due to the moderation system.
