Per the earlier email on our Cato metal platform (https://cato.digital),
I'm looking for a specific need: to get somebody who feels confident in
digging through the OCP platforms and firmware and building new versions
of firmware. We have gear that's come out of Facebook's datacenters, and
it's a mixed-bag of firmware versions, so we want to get everything up
to the latest; but being open-source hardware, we have to build our own
firmware.
The projects are out there, however.
Notably the first platforms we need are (in order of priority):
* Leopard — OpenBMC and BIOS (the BIOS actually may be a third party
non-OSS one, so we are looking into other options there)
* NIC MT27710 Family [ConnectX-4 Lx] — We believe the firmware on this
is also OSS, but need to do some more research. Specifically, some
of the firmware supports OpenPXE, some doesn't, and we need a
uniform image that supports OpenPXE
* Bryce Canyon — OpenBMC and BIOS — this one actually uses a
head/controller node, which I think might actually be monolake (we
are looking into this still)
* Monolake — OpenBMC and BIOS
* Tioga Pass
In some of these cases it may not even be building the firmware, as much
as just finding the right firmware image, if not finding a way to read
it from existing cards, and how we can re-flash it.
If this sounds interesting, please contact me. Standard 1099 contract.
