While it "costs" more in server space, what I do is have both FLAC (for SB) and AAC (for iTunes) for all my music files, so this way I can transfer files to my iPhone (and other Apple devices). I wrote an Applescript years ago to convert FLAC to AAC (iTunes does the conversion).
