I just rebooted my NAS and thus restarted the LMS. Shortcut saved on the desktop still works. To be clear, I'm not contradicting you, I used the same desktop shortcut most days for a week. The detail in the URI may have changed if I was to save a new shortcut, but the old one still has the BBC returning todays (9/22) version of the Today iPlayer programs.
