I've got the same problem on my RB3 - after experimenting for some time I found that the ZIP file at http://downloads.nixda.ch/Spotty-2.4.1.zip is broken. I managed to install Spotty by manually downloading the file from http://www.herger.net/_data/Spotty-2.4.1.zip (and copying it to /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/DownloadedPlugins). @ Michael - can you check the ZIP?
