I had a deeper look, so it's not that the Denon wants to do pin-paring
(like AppleTV) but it seems that it wants the RTSP session to be
authenticated/encrypted. None of AirPlay devices that I've used
previously had that and I don't know how to do that. I'm guessing that,
but looking at your log of the exchange with your macbook, it does a
pair-setup session which is similar do what you have to do for AppleTV,
but difference in a sense that, for AppleTV

1- A controller starts a pin verification session
2- A pin is displayed on the screen and the same must bed entered on the
controller
3- In exchange, the AppleTV responds with a token which must be stored
by the controller
4- Steps 1- and 2- needs to be done only once, but for every RTSP
session, the token must be provided

(see guide I've made here) :

This caused me a lot of headaches ...

So, it seems that there is another RTSP session authentication with some
devices. So far, it has never been required and I'm still suspecting
that some bit got "flipped" on your Denon, regardless of its firmware
version. I'm sorry, but at that point I don't have a better answer as I
don't have a good docn on how to do a pair-setup on AirPlay.

Your only option so far it to move back to UPnP with your Denon very
likely supports
