I also do not see the differenc between movement and song. Isn't that the same?
I prefer to split classical CDs into "virtual albums" so that I use the album tag for a work and the track tags for the movements of the work (each work thus defines a "virtual album"). This works fine whith CDs on which are only several works like symphonies. The original title of these CDs is usually not so important (mostly it is not even a real "title" but only a list of the works). However, sometimes on a CD there are two "works" (e.g. symphonies or sonatas) and in addition several single pieces (like piano pieces consisiting only of ONE "movement"). If I split these CDs in several "virtual albums" (one for each "work" and one for each "single piece") I have the problem that these single pieces are stored both as album and as track which means that there are two levels of hirarchy when pressing RIGHT on the remote having the same contents. Is it possible with custom browse to have a kind of IF clause for the browse menu structure to supress the last level if the leve one above is identical? Finally, the above tagging does not solve my problem with CDs like "Horowitz plays in Carnegie Hall" (which comprises e.g. some multi movement sonatas as well as single piano pieces). If I use the above approach I have to split the CD in several "virtual albums" one for each sonata and single piece. But then I have no possibility to browse for the original CD title "Horowitz plays in Carnegie Hall" which is for this example in my opinion a very important possibility. I wanted to solve that problem by either using two album tags, one comprising the orignal CD title and one the respective title of the virtual album (e.g. "Beethoven sonata no. 5") but slimserver does not allow multiple album tags. I then tried to use the "multiple item in tags option" but that does not work for the album tag, only for artist and genre. That's why I filed a long time ago two bug reports for that, one of which was closed as "won't fix" (bug no. 2553) and the other is still open (bug report 1776). Erland, in your proposal you mentioned a "work" tag. I read in your description of custum browse that only certain tags are playable (like track, album, artist). Is this "work" tag playable, i.e. can I browse to the list of works, scroll to one of them and then press play to play the work (i.e. all tracks one level below)? If your custom browse can give a solution to the above that would be great! -- dip ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dip's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=902 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35420 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
