So I've reinstalled the LMS from scratch and re-added the BBC Sounds plugin and the problem seems to have disappeared for now. I wonder if it was something left over from all the complicated PlayHLS and IPlayer installs that I had to do before BBC Sounds? Anyway, sorry to bother you all - hopefully it's fixed. If not, I'll be back :-)
