Very odd - you should at least be seeing log entries about the database 
being "lazified" (where the plugin rebuilds the indexing) after you've 
restarted the server. Are you sure you're not seeing those when starting 
the server with d_plugins?

After the uninstallation, reinstallation, clear&rescan and then 
restarting of the server does artist and album searching still work and 
song search not?

I've not heard of this particular problem (there have not been any bugs 
for a while), but where things have gone wrong in the past it's always 
because something has been changed. Have you started/stopped using 
MusicMagic, MoodLogic, iTunes, language settings etc?

We should be able to get to the bottom of it, but it might take a little 
investigation to work out what's going on.
