Been using ipeng and in general works great! Love it. I use tailscale for vpn. Today, while out of the house on cellular wanted to play some music. Ipeng finds the server over the tailscale vpn and I am able to control players that are on the home wifi. However, I do not see my iPhone as one of the available players.
