I'm not really so concerned about a random noise blasting out or something (in three years with SBs I've not had that problem), I'm really just wanting a way to make sure the volume can't be raised beyond a certain level, whil still having replaygain working.
Which, if I understand what you've said above, is actually what I'll be able to do.
