Yes - squeezenetwork is basically a broker - it sets up connections between and SB and a broadcaster. Once setup SN onlyhas to send the display data which is relatively a small amount of data and not very often (probably a screen every sec or 0.5 sec) and it is not time critical - there is no stuttering if screen update is late.
To transcode require requires significant processing but then SN also needs to be become broadcaster so it will need large network bandwidth for audio and a banks of more powerful servers to transcode and server the audio. Furthermore there may be the more difficult possible issue of copyright/unlicensed use of data as transcoding modifies the data stream by a 3rd party commercial entity and not by the end user. -- bpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47039 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
