Do the modification in the web interface instead by editing the menu in the Custom Browse menu configuration under SqueezeCenter Settings. There is a "Customize configuration" radio button at the bottom of the menu configuration options which lets you modify the XML directly from the web interface.
You change should also work but the templates are cached so it probably doesn't detect that you have made the change. You could try to delete the Cache/FileCache directory and hit the Refresh link at the bottom of the Custom Browse menu page in the web interface.
