Thanks again for your reply, I wasn't fishing for a unix lesson though, but it is greatly appreciated. I didn't know about the man command so tried it out. It is very similar to the help? DOS command. Used to be a dab hand at DOS in the early days but probably forgotten most of it now. I've been tinkering with computers since the late 70's.
