Did it never work?
Please try to start it with all communication (Wifi, network) disabled
and restart. If that helps you might want to set "settings->iPeng
settings->forget last server" to on.
Did you upgrade from an earlier version? In this case uninstalling and
reinstalling iPeng could help.
Also, please try the upgrade to 1.1.1
Oh, and please make sure your player has a name. This issue should be
fixed in 1.1.1 but it's in any way not a "legal" state for a player to
not have a name ("legal" as of SqueezeCenter)
