I think there were changes in SB firmware for SC 7.3.x were to support Pandora and other services where the SB gets a connections and port needed for its direct connections and the SB has to tell SC that it was successfuk connecting.
It might have been necessary to ensure playing as there are security issues (e.g. geo IP blocking) when using Pandora on SN - as the geographical location of player would not be the same as SN. The setting makes sense as web proxying avoids the SB player doing the direct connection but it implies an SC server and SC is basically the same mechanism used when playing Pandora on synced players. I think the Geo IP blocking would be done on the location of SC server.
