Update: I am able to get Squeezeslave to run by using the command padsp /usr/bin/squeezeslave.
However, still no sound. I ran the command pulseaudio --dump-modules, and got a list of all my modules, but with n/a/ next to each one. I'm not sure what this means--are these modules loaded, and just not in use? I seem to recall there was a command-line mixer for Pulseaudio, but I cannot recall the command.
