I am running 7.4.2 on a Windows XP SP3 Pentium 4 - 3.0 Ghz with 2.5 GB Ram. Most of my music is on 2 external 1TB USB Western Digital Drives, some on internal 750 GB IDE drive. Library size: 2.2 Terabytes, about 75% FLAC, the rest in MP3.
I am running the newest version of iPeng. I LOVE the app - it does exactly what I want, and works great - THANKS! However, I do seem to have some problems with the caching. After I clean and rescan my database, I always tell iPeng to flush the cache - on my library, it seems to take about 1 minute for the artists list and probably around 5 minutes for the albums list. The problems I have seen are related to the refresh of the cache never completing. In some cases, I can go to the album page for very long periods of time, and never see the progress bar complete. It will never finish unless I tell it to flush again. I also believe (based on some behavior I saw when I first got the player) that if I don't keep ipeng active (that is, I let the screen automatically dim after a minute or 2), that this prevents the cache update from finishing.
