Yes. That will be the case. How many albums do you have? One alternative could be (in iPeng) to use "Settings->iPeng Settings->Keep Connection". This is not absolutely reliable since after a while iPod touch shuts off WiFi (I believe this is a bug, iPhone doesn't do that) but for 5min or so you should be fine. Please check whether that fixes your issue.
