The streams are fixed bandwidth - the only option would be to listen to the non uk streams which are lower bandwidth. The plugin is not setup for this at present though. If this is live radio then I suspect some of the streams from the BBC app would be the international ones - you may want to try them and check the bandwidth displayed.
